In other words, if we have been baptized in the Spirit of the Lord we are IN HIM (as the baptized person is in water) BUT, AND THIS IS IMPORTANT -- He is also in US. How does He get there? If you carry the John's-water-baptism too far, you would force the convert to drown. Why? Because baptism is not complete until the person baptised BREATHES in the fresh air of new life. If you tried that in the baptism tank, the person being baptized would drown. Water baptism does a good job of showing we are now dead to our old selves. However, he who is baptized in the Spirit is ALIVE to the Lord Jesus Christ. Luther said, "Prayer is the breath of the believer." Yes. we breath Him in. He is in us; we are in Him.
